"Vote, engage politically, voice your opinions and get international experience", Lousewies van der Laan tells Slovenian youths.Giving a key note address for the Slovenian Young Managers association, Lousewies van der Laan shared best practices on youth engagement and activism to change their country's future. "Those holding economic or political power will not hand it to a new generation, you need to fight for it", van der Laan told an audience of students and political leaders of a range of Slovenian political parties. "If you don't vote, you don't have the right to complain that pensioners and trade unionists are pushing for policies that increase a national debt you will have to repay." The speech was followed by a debate between representatives of main political parties: Ljudmila Novak, president of the New Slovenia; Franc Bogovi?, president of the Slovenian People's Party; Andrej Vizjak, MSc, member of the Slovenian Democratic Party; and Stanko Stepišnik, MSc, member of the Positive Slovenia.
